ORAU honors UAC for its contribution to the defense of the Amazon forests and Indigenous Peoples

As part of its 26th anniversary of political establishment, the Regional Organization AIDESEP Ucayali – ORAU granted recognition to several allied organizations for their contributions to the protection of the Amazon and the collective rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Among the honored entities, Upper Amazon Conservancy (UAC) was recognized for its sustained commitment to forest conservation and the strengthening of Indigenous communities in the headwaters of the Amazon.

The award was presented during a public ceremony in Pucallpa, where the importance of alliances built from within the territory was highlighted as essential for defending life and promoting the concept of Buen Vivir (Living Well).

“This recognition from ORAU reaffirms the value of alliances built on respect, commitment, and consistency. It motivates us to continue supporting communities in the defense of their territories, cultural preservation, and the protection of the Amazon,” said William Villacorta, Programs Director at UAC.

From UAC, we deeply appreciate this distinction, which reinforces our conviction to work through mutual respect, supporting local processes of conservation, monitoring, and territorial autonomy.
