Territorial governance in action in the Yurúa Conservation Concession
Installation of signage in the Yurúa Conservation Concession
From February 4 to 9, fieldwork was carried out for the installation of signage and the remarking of boundaries within the Conservation Concession located in the district of Yurúa, province of Atalaya. This action represents a key step toward strengthening Indigenous governance and the effective protection of the territory.
The activity was led by the Yurúa Communal Conservation Association (ACC Yurúa), the organization that manages the concession, with the participation of members of the Forest Custodians Committee and community partners. It was also supported and coordinated by the Association of Native Communities for the Integral Development of Yurúa Yono Sharakoiai (ACONADIYSH).

The work included the installation of a total of eight signs in strategic areas and along main access routes, such as the Breu and Beu rivers, Alto Yurúa and Piquiyako, contributing to the delimitation of the area, the prevention of unauthorized entry, and the strengthening of community-based monitoring.
This action is carried out within the framework of the proposal process for recognition as Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs), with funding from PROFONANPE. Upper Amazon Conservancy (UAC) provided technical and logistical support, accompanying the territorial work led by ACC Yurúa.
In this way, effective management and conservation of the area are strengthened, highlighting the central role of Indigenous organizations in protecting their territories.
